Scripture Sharing

Scripture Sharing Circle
Led by Sister Dianne Baumunk
Thursdays of February and March
1-2 pm
No Cost

We have had a number of requests for a time of reflection and sharing of Scripture, so we are offering this weekly opportunity.

In the stillness we will listen to a Gospel selection read aloud,

allowing ourselves to hear “with the ears of our hearts”.

As we listen again to the voice of God speaking to each of us in the Scriptures,

like Mary we will ponder God’s Word in our hearts in order
to hear the message God has for our daily lives.
This simple listening and sharing what we hear God speaking to us

is a practicethat can be very helpful in our spiritual journey.
So join us any or all of these Thursday afternoons
of shared Scriptural reflection and prayer.

May 6 Finding Beauty in a Broken World, Terry Tempest Williams

Two quotes from Tempest reveal her approach to living, her approach to writing:

"Dignity is a presence, a suffering withheld, a reserve and a patience learned through difficulty, a broken heart held together through acceptance, not bitterness." And

“Beauty is not a luxury but a strategy for survival."

June 3 A Country Year: Living the Questions, Sue Hubbell "Sue Hubbell, a former librarian and now a commercial beekeeper, lives on a peninsula between two rivers in the Ozark Mountains. Her quiet reflections are arranged by seasons, beginning and ending with the spring." (School Library Journal)

The Power of Forgiveness

The Power of Forgiveness

A Day of Reflection

Led by Sister Dianne Baumunk

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

9 am to 3 pm

Cost: $10.

Bring your own lunch

Using Martin Doblmeier’s probing documentary film, The Power of Forgiveness, as a jumping off point, we will explore together the mystery of forgiveness in relation to our world and in our own lives.

As Kenneth Briggs says in his book based on the film, “Forgiveness is available as a tool, a blessing, a process of conversion that can be brought into play when the powder keg of hatred and revenge are lit. It is a choice that is not much used; yet, from the testimony and evidence, it holds enormous riches for our bodies, minds and souls.” Join us for this day of reflective sharing of stories of compassion and forgiveness.

Remembering Maria Rifo

Efren Carillo and Others Remembering Maria Rifo
Sunday, March 15, 2009
2 to 4 pm

Light Refreshments will be served.

Maria would have been 102 years old on March 12th. We continue to miss Maria yet we feel her presence and inspiration in many simple acts of daily life.

Come celebrate Maria's life with her many friends. As many of you know, Maria selected the first Habitat for Humanity family in Santa Rosa, the Carillo family. Efren Carillo, newly elected County Supervisor, will share his memories of Maria, as will others.

If you knew Maria, come remember with us and visit the Maria Rifo Reading Room at the Angela Center.
